No convention is quite like San Diego Comic-Con. With a sprawling exhibit hall, hundreds of hours of programming, and a dedicated space for gaming, it’s impossible for attendees to be bored. The Army Painter is stoked to once again be part of the holy grail of pop culture events. We’re returning to San Diego in style with retail sales, demos, hobby classes, and more.
Demos and Paints
Curious about trying Speedpaint for your next project? Want to talk with us about airbrushing, Warpaints Fanatic, wet palettes, or anything in between? We’re here to help. Our very own Caleb Wissenback will be present doing demos and offering 1:1 instruction—Caleb’s a pro, so take advantage. Kat and Tim from The Army Painter Events Team will also be in the booth for questions and advice.

We’ll have our full range of paints and hobby supplies available for sale. Come see us at booth 1534 and let’s nerd out!
Paint and Take
Claim some peace for yourself by participating in Paint & Take in Room 17B in the convention centre Mezzanine area. The Army Painter is the main program sponsor, so if you paint a mini, you'll get to try out our paints and brushes. Then you can visit our booth to show off your work; we'd love to see your work, whether it’s your first mini or your hundredth.
Hobby Classes from Factory Team Members
The Army Painter Factory Team members Jake Krajeski and Dave Taylor, from Build Paint Play will be teaching a series of miniature painting classes using our paints and tools in Room 17B in the Mezzanine. You can learn about everything from painting basics to how to best utilise metallic paints. Their schedule is as follows:
Thursday-Sunday, 10:30am-12:20pm - Introduction to Painting Minis Learn the basics of getting into painting miniatures. Dave & Jake from Build Paint Play will be showing you the ropes for this intro class. Looking to paint your character for the next D&D game? Want to get into Warhammer 40,000 or another tabletop mini wargame? Looking to really make your board game miniatures pop? This class will give you your first experience of putting paint on a brush, and then on a miniature.
Thursday and Saturday, 2pm-3:30pm – Metallics It's time to make your armoured cavalry (or battlemechs, etc.) look epic. Dave & Jake from Build Paint Play will be offering this class that focuses on getting the most out of metallics-themed miniatures. Don't just paint that knight silver and call him done. It needs detail, shading, and all kinds of upgrades.
Thursday and Saturday, 4:30pm-6pm – Speedpaint Dave & Jake from Build Paint Play will be showing you the ins and outs of Speedpaint. A revolutionary way to get your miniatures painted quickly and have them look fantastic. Speedpaints are a paint from The Army Painter, and they offer loads of coverage with a built-in tone and shader! Two steps in one. This can be used to really get great layers and depth of colour, and to crank out lots of miniatures with a consistent look.
Friday and Sunday, 2pm-3:30pm – Skintones Dave & Jake from Build Paint Play are back at it again this time teaching you one of (arguably) the most difficult things to paint: Skin. This class will focus on depth of tones, layering, and how to shade appropriately to make any model look great and to teach you some simple tricks to ensure you can replicate this process with any skintone.
Friday - 4:30pm-6pm - Fur & Hair Dave & Jake from Build Paint Play will be taking you on a wild ride, as things are about to get hairy! This class will focus on how to get layers and highlighting on fur and hair. Learning how to make realistic textures, and how colours work together to show a consistent and layered look.
San Diego Comic-Con takes place from July 24th-July 27th, with a preview night the evening of July 23rd. That means you have days of opportunities to stop by the booth and tell us about what you’ve been painting. We look forward to talking with you!
