It’s official, the newest kids on the block are here—Combat Se7ens!
What exactly are Combat Se7ens, you may be asking? Each set delivers a complete army colour scheme in a box, built around seven essential paints chosen to work together from the very first brushstroke. They’re carefully curated to remove guesswork, giving you a clear starting point towards combat and tabletop-ready results.
Combat Se7ens are about momentum. Less time deciding. More time painting. From opening the box to placing finished models on the table, every colour of paint inside is selected to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Seven paints. One clear starting point. Built to get your forces ready for combat.
How to Use Them
Now that you have the seven carefully curated paints for your army in hand, how do you go about using them? While these sets are designed to work across any gaming system, setting, or collection, we decided to apply them to some of the most popular army archetypes in tabletop gaming. Most notably, the grimdark setting of Warhammer 40,000.

The first thing you may be noticing is that these minis appear to have a certain very dark and very light paint included in their palettes. That’s because Combat Se7ens were designed to be used in conjunction with Warpaints Fanatic Matt Black and Matt White. These two essential colours are likely already a part of many of your paint collections, so we didn’t want to take up precious space inside the box by including them in each set.
We’ve recorded detailed, step-by-step tutorials for each Combat Se7en so you can follow along and see how we applied these sets to get bare plastic to tabletop-ready in no time. If you already have your chosen Combat Se7en in hand, then good news! Each box comes with a QR code that will take you directly to the corresponding tutorial. If you just want to see some awesome tutorials using paints you may already have, are on the fence about a particular Combat Se7en, or just want to hear the sultry tones of Adam as he narrates the brushstrokes of our studio painting team, then you can check out our handy Video Tutorial Roadmap below to see when your favourite faction will be hitting the airwaves.

As you can see, we have a whole year of wonderful Combat Se7ens content planned for you, with corresponding content arriving each month to support the central tutorial. This means even more painting goodness for you!
Sons of Sanguinius

We kick things off next month with everyone’s favourite angry-sad Space Marines, the Blood Angels. As these noble warriors once again make planetfall on the world of Armageddon, we thought it was the perfect time to explore how to bring them to life using the new Crimson Relic Armour Combat Se7ens set. Get your brushes ready and prepare to kick some Ork butt in July!
These 12 curated sets are only the beginning, and we’d love to hear what colour schemes you’d like to see presented in future Combat Se7ens. Be sure to let us know in comments on our social media platforms, or email feedback@thearmypainter.com with your suggestions today.
